Breastmilk Storage Quick Reference Guide

*Clock starts when milk is thawed, not from when you take out of freezer Source: CDC Breastfeeding Guidelines
Mixing milk

Mixing milk from different pumping sessions is okay; just bring milk to the same temperature in the fridge before combining

Sending milk to daycare

Pack in pre-measured, labeled bottles in cooler with ice packs

Make sure it's transferred to fridge when it arrives at daycare

Freezing milk

Remove excess air from filled bag, seal tightly, and lay flat to freeze

Once frozen, store upright to stay organized and use oldest to newest

Thaw frozen milk in fridge, on counter top, or in warm water bath; never microwave breastmilk
